ABOUT THE COURSE

Essential training for rescue professionals operating in moving and flood waters.

The SRT course, developed by Rescue 3 International, has become a globally recognized standard for training rescue personnel working in challenging water environments.

This course is designed for those who may be called upon to perform rescues in swiftwater or flood conditions – firefighters, mountain rescue teams, civil protection units, divers, and other emergency responders. Training goes far beyond technical ropework and water skills. It focuses on safe movement in dynamic water, risk assessment, rescue techniques, and – most importantly – real-time decision-making and teamwork under pressure.

Led by experienced instructors with real-world rescue backgrounds, this course combines hands-on practice, proven methodology, and lessons learned from actual operations.

We believe that rescue teams should train in the environment where they will operate. That’s why the course location is flexible and arranged in agreement with participating units. With sufficient participants from one unit, we are able to deliver the training at a location that reflects your real operational challenges.

The SRT course isn’t just training – it’s a professional commitment to safety, skill, and readiness in unpredictable water environments.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This training is primarily intended for firefighting units and other civil protection services that respond to floods, swiftwater incidents, and search operations on rivers. It provides participants with the core knowledge and skills needed to stay safe and act effectively in dynamic water environments.

The course begins with essential theory – covering river hydrology, flood behavior, hazard identification, and operational planning. However, the main emphasis is on hands-on learning, where participants progress from basic techniques to complex rescue operations.

Key skills include:

  • Confident swimming in swiftwater

  • Defensive and offensive swimming techniques

  • Use of throwbags and other rescue equipment

  • Self-rescue and team-rescue procedures

  • Communication and coordination during rescues

Training is delivered through scenario-based exercises, allowing participants to apply what they've learned in realistic and evolving situations. These simulations are designed to build both technical skill and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

TRAIN WHERE YOU OPERATE

We believe that rescue teams are most effective when they train in the environments they know best. That’s why course locations are flexible and can be arranged in agreement with participating units. With a sufficient number of participants, we can organize the training near your home river, floodplain, or operational area – ensuring that the training is relevant and immediately applicable.

REAL SKILLS FOR REAL MISSION

This is more than just a training course – it’s a step toward becoming a capable, confident, and safety-minded rescue technician. The SRT course equips you with the skills, mindset, and experience you need to respond effectively in some of the most unpredictable and high-risk rescue environments.
